Description

Created as a fundraiser for the Red Cross, this work includes thirty-six short stories or poems with contributions from such well-known names as Georgette Heyer, T.S. Elliot, A.A. Milne, and Daphne du Maurier, as well as a variety of lesser recognizable names in the 21st Century. There are thirteen illustrations, one of which is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth, Consort of King George VI. A fascimile of her letter introducing the book includes the following line, "My feeling of gratitude and admiration is shared, I am certain, by every other woman in our Empire - especially by the wives and mothers of those who are fighting to defend its liberty."
