Description
Oral history interview with Gene Vaughan about life growing up in Mississippi during the Great Depression, how his whole class volunteered in 1943 to be aviator gunners, but he wanted to be a pilot like one of his older brothers. He did basic training in Arizona, but flew out of MacDill AFB after training in the Memphis Belle in Tampa, FL to England. He talks about bombing runs over Germany, and surviving all 25 missions before coming home and playing football. He then talked about post-war life.
