In early 2020, a huge donation of books about World War II was made to Flagler College. Due to the size of the donation, it will take time to merge this donation into Special Collections. Most of the collection is about the war in Europe, but all fronts and aspects of the war are covered.
Other items in the collection related to WWII have been donated or removed from the circulating collection and cover all aspects of the war, though primarily about the European or Pacific Theatres.
Although the bulk of the books on this subject are in English, not all books were written from the U.S or British perspective; a goodly number of books have been translated from their original langagues. All non-book items are U.S.-centric.
Primary sources originate from the following countries (in no particular order): United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Switzerland, Yugoslavia, Japan, Sweden, Hungary, and Poland.

An account of the resource
Prisoners of War: Stolen Freedom compares the stories of four American servicemen through their time as prisoners of war in three major 20th century conflicts; World War II, Korea and the Vietnam War. Their stories are supported by archival motion pictures and photographs obtained at the US National Archives as well as through sketches and memorabilia collected by each of the men.
Their stories are less about atrocity than they are about the survival of the human spirit and the camaraderie that helped each man survive years of incarceration. Each story is followed by spectacular recounts of their days of release. Produced by Michael Rothfeld & Bill Dudley and the Veterans Council of St. Johns County, directed by Eric Flagg.
